Americans Have 104 TV Channels On Average, Yet Watch Less TV
NEW YORK -- Remember that Bruce Springsteen song -- "57 Channels and Nothin' On"? That was way back in 1992.Now, 15 years later, the average home has 104 channels, and it's still debatable if anything's on.
The Nielsen Research Company said the number of channels Americans get at home is growing faster than the desire to watch them.
In 2006, viewers watched only 15 percent of the stations available to them for any real length of time.
In 2000, when there were fewer channels, they watched 22 percent of what they could surf through.
